A Momentary Lapse of Reason
Jazz — it arouses a combination of vibrant notes and surprisingly peaceful moments of pure nirvana.
This intimate series of photographs brings to center stage an album of pure and genuine moments of artists during their sound check. The photographs were taken at The Israeli Opera, The Yahalom Theater, Shablul Jazz Club and many other venues.
One of the most important aspects in this series is the color. The camera leads us on a journey to a “New World” - a world where an artist doesn’t have to play the instrument in order to hear the music… the music is always playing, and is always there. The viewers can listen to the photographs with their eyes and enjoy the vividness of Jazz music that is captured in these photographs.
The photographs capture current Jazz greats such as Tony Pancella, who won the award for BEST NEW TALENT in 1989 and is now an important figure in Italian Jazz; Stefano Bollani, who has conquered the Italian culture; Nicola Stillo, who played with such Jazz luminaries as Chet Baker; Gilad Abro, who is one of Israel’s unique bass players; Michela Lombardi, one of Italy’s top Jazz vocalists; and more.
- A Momentary Lapse of Reason was showcased at the Israeli Opera and at The Hava Rosenberg Gallery and is currently showcasing at The Scots Hotel until the end of 2022 .
